3 Tips For A Successful Black Friday

It’s that time of year again – Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year! And if you’re a trucking company, you’re in for a busy day.

Here are three tips to help you make the most of Black Friday and ensure it’s a successful day for your business:

1. Make sure your trucks are in good condition and up to transporting large volumes of goods. Black Friday is not the day to be dealing with truck breakdowns!

2. Plan your routes in advance and allow extra time for deliveries. Congestion on the roads is inevitable on Black Friday, so give yourself plenty of time to get where you’re going.

3. Keep an eye on the weather forecast. Bad weather can make driving conditions even more difficult, so it’s important to be prepared.

Following these tips can make Black Friday a success for your trucking company. So get out there and make the most of the year's busiest shopping day!

What Happens to Trucking Companies on Black Friday

The economy is getting better, and people are becoming more confident. That means people will spend more than ever during the holidays, especially on the day after Thanksgiving, called "Black Friday." Most people in the US think of Black Friday as the start of Christmas shopping. Most stores are open longer hours and have lots of sales to attract more customers. Most of the time, stores hire seasonal workers to handle the vast number of customers.

During the busy holiday shopping season, everyone is busy. It's not just people who work in stores. There is a carryover effect on the transportation industry, which has to move all the freight from where it is made to the warehouses where it is sold.

More Freight to Transport

A few weeks before the holiday shopping season starts, stores stock up on goods. And for many more weeks, maybe even months, before that, the factories were already working hard to make more to meet the holiday orders. On both the manufacturing and retail sides, much freight needs to move from the suppliers of raw materials to the factories and the factories to the stores. This is good for the trucking business because more loads can be moved from one place to another. This will mean that trucking companies will have to move more cargo and make more money.

Delivered on Time

At this time of year, more than any other, it's hard for truck drivers to deliver their freight on time because everyone else is also in a hurry. Manufacturers have to move finished goods out of their warehouses to make room for constant production on the floor. Retail warehouses are also open almost 24 hours a day, seven days a week, because delivery trucks from different manufacturers always come and go. The goods in retail warehouses need to get to the stores where they are sold.

Getting Stuck in Traffic

Many people and goods are moving around in the weeks before Black Friday. Almost all freight trucks are out on the roads, making traffic worse and more complicated for truck drivers.

Truck drivers who deliver packages for holiday shoppers don't get a break from their busy schedules until after the holidays. They spend most of the holidays in traffic, away from their families. But they have to keep moving the freight. They must keep driving through the holidays to keep the economy going.

Profit to the Economy

Retail sales during the holidays in the US are estimated to be around $630 billion a year, while online sales during the holidays are about $94 billion a year. Even just the sales during the holidays are suitable for many parts of the economy, including the trucking industry. In 2015, the trucking industry made $726.4 billion, and it is expected to make more than that this year, especially with the holiday season.
